The 31st annual Oakley Earthworks Far Western Championships will be held this Saturday at the Shark Bay Speedway located some 850kms northwest of Perth.
This years event has seen the biggest field of Production Sedans entered for some time with the meeting doubling as round two of the 2018 Speedway Sedan Digest Four Crown Series.
Five time Four Crowns Series champion Barry Rose will start the event favourite, with the current state champion a four time winner of the Far Western Championships.
Local Greg “Footy” Robinson is a former four time winner of the Far Western Championships and is in the field this weekend with Leon Wood, Benny Curtin and Greame Rafferty all having plenty of track time at the Shark Bay venue in recent times.
Daren Currell, Jayden McCuish and Coby Stevens are all strong chances of finishing on the podium this weekend.
Street Stocks will contest the second round of the their Novus Carnarvon Street Stock Gold Cup Series with Jack Barnewall and Jace Kempton set to do battle once again. Locals Roger Hewitt, Paul Norman and former WA Modified Sedan champion Mick Ricetti should all be prominent.
Modified Sedans, Junior Sedans, Limited Sprintcars and Super Mods are all on the program with racing getting underway at 10am Saturday morning.
