Heads Up Albany

After what was a brilliant Australian Title weekend, the stage is now set for an epic finale as the travelling circus that is the USA Invasion Tour heads down the highway and into the town of Albany for the final two rounds of competition.

A solid number of twenty three nominations have been received for the event so far, and with the possibility of a couple more as the week progresses, this could be one of the biggest Late Model shows ever seen at the picturesque Albany venue.

Heading the nominations is of course newly crowned Australian Champion and USA Invasion Tour points leader, Kye Blight. Growing up near Albany, Blight is very familiar with the venue and coming into the show on a hot streak of four feature wins in a row, he is certainly going to be very difficult to beat.

Being the Invasion Tour, there is also a number of Americans heading down for a final battle, with Hayden Ross, Joe Godsey and Jeff Roth all keen to grab a victory for Uncle Sam. Roth in particular has been in good form, winning a feature on the first night of competition, then coming home fourth in the Australian Title final. Ross was twelfth and Roth was fifteenth, so all three will be hoping to improve once again.

The local brigade is incredibly strong, with current Australia #3 (and current Carbusters Pro Dirt Series points leader) Warren Oldfield in the field, as is the WA Champion Brent Vosbergen, former Australian Champion Paul Stubber and Michael Holmes, who holds down second place in the overall Pro Dirt Series points. These four alone will be worth the price of admission, and all four are desperate to find their way back onto the top step of the podium across the two nights at Albany.

Fresh off her charge through the field in the Australian Title, Veronica McCann is back in the field and hoping for more luck than her last outing at Albany, while others including Marc Giancola and Freddy Kinsella, who currently sit tied for third overall in the Pro Dirt Series and local hero Aydan Trewern are also in the field.

Add in Jay Cardy who is looking to make up for a horror run in the Australian Title, Daniel Ameduri who is keen to bounce back after a DNF in last weekends B Main and a whole pile of others in with a big chance of solid results this weekend and it is going to be one show you won’t want to miss.

See you this Saturday and Sunday night at Albany’s Attwell Park for another brilliant weekend of racing!
