Just one weekend after stealing the show at the Perth Motorplex Powerpalooza opener, the thunder and lightning Late Models are back at the Perth Motorplex and ready to put on another show for the fans.
A good field of nineteen cars have nominated for round three of the Sims Metal Management Pro Dirt Series this Saturday night and with stories already being written and rivalries being built, this is set to be the next exciting chapter of season 2018/19.
‘The Black Knight’ made a spectacular season debut last Saturday, winning the feature in a new race record time. This weekend’s show will see a thirty lap feature, setting a new challenge for the likeable Longhorn #99 campaigner.
Of course, the lap distance won’t be his only challenger, with no less than three drivers pursuing Halliday to the line in the last show in what was an absolutely thrilling finish. Paul Stubber, Kye Blight and Marc Giancola were within a second of each other as the flag flew at the last meeting and with things that close, we are sure to have another exciting feature this time. Of course, the rivalry between Stubber and Giancola is building and the punters are already sitting up and taking note of the two veteran drivers.
Brad Blake won the opening round feature, then put an impressive performance in last weekend to be currently second in the overall Sims Series Standings, four points behind leader Jamie Oldfield who has not nominated for this show. He will do all he can to maintain that lead after this round and being the winningest driver ever at the Perth Motorplex means that he certainly knows what it takes.
Veronica McCann was in solid form at the last show and is still looking to break through for a podium finish while Daniel Ameduri and Jayden Meckenstock have started to come to terms with new cars and could start moving forward come feature time.
Add in names like Mick Comley, opening round podium getter Ken Macpherson and Michael Holmes and Jay Cardy who are always lurking towards the front of the field and any number of drivers are capable of grabbing the round win.
So what will happen in the third chapter of the Sims Metal Management Pro Dirt Series for season 2018/19?
The best way to find out is to be at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night!
