WAMDA Awards Night a Great Success

The 2016/2017 season awards night for the Western Australian Modified Sedan Drivers Association was held on Saturday (15th July) at the Lighthouse Inn in Bunbury.

Many of the series drivers and crews were on hand to celebrate another fantastic season of Modified Sedan racing in Western Australia.

Albany’s Blake Watson was crowned the 2016/2017 GWN7 WA Modified Sedan Series Champion for the first time in his career after finishing on the podium in the series in his two previous attempts. Watson thanked his sponsors and family for their continued support of his racing, many of whom were on hand for the awards night.

Anthony King aboard his Totally Independent Tyre Service Ford Falcon had a very consistent season and came home second in the series standings. King thanked his partner Donna, and his Dad Des for their support.

South Coast young gun Nathan Penn took home third in the 2016/2017 series standings and finished the season in great form by winning the final two rounds at Manjimup & Katanning. Penn commended his fellow competitors and looked forward to racing with the Modified Sedans again next season.

The Driver’s Driver Award which was voted on by all the competitors who competed in the Series went the way of Anthony King. King thanked his fellow competitors for voting for him and believed that the calibre of drivers in the division was some of the best he has raced against in his long Speedway career.

Encouragement awards were presented to David Gordon and Kim Williams with both drivers enjoying solid seasons in their Holden Commodores.
